AOII encourages all members to excel academically and has many programs designed to assist women in achieving their academic goals. Expectations are high but the support provided by scholarship programs, academic development officer resources, and fellow members makes success attainable.

Letter from the President

Hi and welcome to the Kappa Tau chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi!! Thank you for taking the time to visit our website and find out what life as an AOlI is all about! As a part of the Southeastern Louisiana community, our chapter is proud to have maintained academic excellence while promoting our philanthropy and sisterhood. We are looking forward to another successful year and can't wait to continue growing and improving! Service and philanthropy are both an important part in our Greek experience. This past spring semester, we held our annual Strike Out Arthritis fundraiser which continues to be a success each year! The event consisted of a bowling tournament where members invite family and friends to be on their teams. In total we raised $16,242.40 all of which was donated to the Arthritis Foundation. The best part of this event is being able to raise money for a cause so near and dear to our hearts with our families, fellow students, Greeks and the Hammond community while educating them on our philanthropy. In addition to raising money for arthritis, Kappa Tau hosts a MADD Dash 5k in honor of our late sister, Beth Boudreaux, who was killed by a drunk driver. Each fall, Kappa Tau partners with Delta Tau Delta, a fraternity who lost a member to a similar incident to raise money for the Mothers Against Drunk Driving in Baton Rouge. This past Fall, we were able to raise around $5,721.83! It is a true blessing to be able to educate our community on the effects of drunk driving and to hopefully build enough awareness around this cause to prevent even one person from making a bad decision that could result in taking the life of another. One of the major principles AOll is founded on is our commitment to college loyalty. Kappa Tau serves as leaders and role models on campus, contributing significantly to Southeastern. We have multiple members who hold positions for organizations, such as SGA and serve on various oversight committees. With women active in over 50 campus organizations, it's easy to find an AOll among leaders! Our members make such significant contributions on campus and their dedication doesn't go unnoticed. In Spring of 2022, our chapter was awarded Student Organization Award of Excellence! We had four sisters receive the "Green S" award as outstanding SLU student leaders, and one of our sisters was awarded “Sorority Woman of The Year”! Kappa Tau strives to inspire ambition and encourages others to discover their passion in leadership. Deciding to join the AΟΠ family at Southeastern has been one of the best and most fulfilling decisions I've made since coming to campus. Being a part of this chapter has not only allowed me to meet so many amazing women who have since turned into the sweetest friends, but it has also broadened my perspectives, improved my academics, and challenged and refined my leadership skills in the most empowering way. I am so grateful for the chance to be a part of such a connected and impactful organization, and I look forward to watching the chapter grow and excel even more this year. These girls inspire ambition in my heart every single day and I could not be more proud of this organization! Each member brings a unique and valued presence to our house, and we are so excited to welcome home our new group of members in August! We hope you enjoy learning more about our chapter and hope to see you soon! Alpha Love and More,

Kyra Greely
